what glue to use for carpet on aluminum

The rug on my boat is coming upwardly and I need to replace it. My decks are fabricated of aluminum and the regular rug glue that Cabela'southward sells did not seem to stick to the aluminum very well. Is there a amend alternative that I can use for when I redo the carpet this time?

a standard exterior carpet glue is really tough stuff.......the pull a fast one on is.....to prep the surface.....alum should exist cleaned well........and utilize a notched trowell...... once layed......roll information technology or take a cinder block to it and make sure the gum is fully impregnated in to the carpet backing.
the stuff is soooo potent......when pulling up a 10 year sometime peice of carpet....the rug will rip before the glue lets go.

I am looking forwards to learning all sorts of stuff about working on my boat. My boat is a 1995 1648 F&F welded aluminum with a 1995 50 hp Yamaha jet. The boat is but about perfect for me, just theres' a few things I'd similar to add/alter on it to make it fifty-fifty ameliorate.
Practise I demand to scratch upwards the surface of the aluminum before putting glue down or just make sure it's actually make clean? What'due south the best way to go about getting all of the old carpet glue off from the aluminum?

As to getting the glue off I would try a heat gun and paint scraper, I don't think whatsoever kind of solvent volition bear on the glue.
And aye, I would scuff the surface really well,maybe fourscore dust, certainly tin't injure.
Aluminum is funny stuff, hard to become anything to stick to information technology.
Sounds similar you have my boat, I looked everywhere for a apartment lesser jet earlier I bought the boat I have, accept a stretch of river by the house that is likewise skinny for a prop drive but it doesn't have any houses on information technology and the fishing is great, I take to float down information technology now.

i would as well clean the surface with tri sodium phosphate earlier gluing.

I know I've said this on other threads about this topic, but carpet in a boat is like rug in a bathroom it doesn't belong. apply some grip tape or spray in bed liner textile awl grip or simmiliar production that fashion you can just hose out the fish guts.

I have 28oz carpet on my boat and dearest it, unless it is cold out the first thing I practice on the boat is have my shoes off and the carpet is really nice.
And I really practise hose it downwards once or twice a year, hose it and suck it out with a store vac.
It is a little extra work simply worth information technology but I do see your bespeak.
For the record I accept tile in my bath, not as easy to hose that out.

Well the more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards just using some of the rubberized Tuff Stuff ringlet on coating. Is the stuff that Cabela'south has any good? Besides, would it exist piece of cake to roll it on or get a spray on type kit and record everything off and go at it.
Here's some pictures of the front and back deck on my boat that I want to coat. Anything that was carpeted is what needs the coating.
